Roles and permissions
Give members the access they need and keep the hierarchy understandable.
Create and edit roles
Open community settings, choose Roles and create a role. Use its name, colour and permissions to describe its purpose. Search the permissions list to find a control. Save changes in the editor. A role manager cannot grant permissions they do not hold or edit a role at or above their own.
Assign a role from a profile
Open a member pop-out and use the plus control beside Roles. Search and select the available roles, then save. The chips update in place. The control appears only when your permissions and the role hierarchy allow the change.
Review channel access
Community roles provide defaults; channel access settings can restrict individual spaces. Check View Channel, Send Messages, Connect, Speak and Share Screen separately. Keep powerful management permissions limited to people who need them.
